Edinburgh 2009
The Falsetto and The Fingers are off to Edinburgh this week.

Martin Milnes has two voices – or in other words he has a vocal range of over 4 octaves. He can belt across this entire range, and sing beautifully, sensitively and inspiringly from baritone to soprano. His new show, MARTIN ‘THE FALSETTO’ MILNES, celebrates of his tightly honed talent and revels in the joy of musical performance, playing at George Square for the Edinburgh Festival from 8th – 31st August at 9.15pm.
Following a string of critically acclaimed musical theatre roles, Milnes’ eclectic repertoire also includes virtuoso opera (from Strauss’s Die Fledermaus) and a heartbreaking rendition of the ‘Pie Jesu’ from Lloyd Webber’s Requiem. Charting an incredible vocal and stylistic range, Milnes’ voice – recently heard on the West End as part of Raymond Gubbay’s G&S Season at the Gielgud – is rightfully placed centre-stage in his debut solo show.
Milnes will be supported by musical director, co-performer and pianist Michael Baxter, who appears as a loving and comical foil to Milnes’ voice, joining him for delightful duets such as classic hit ‘Me and My Shadow’ and wryly sharing in the audience’s awe at Milnes’ unique vocal ability. The end result is part comic double-act, part homage to some of the twentieth century’s greatest songwriters, and finally a celebration of a truly extraordinary voice. Hear it to believe it.
